Fans of Motherwell and Celtic put football rivalries to one side last night as the MFC Podcast held their second annual Christmas Toy Drive held with support from the Motherwell FC Community Trust and The Well Society.
Such was the response of both sets of supporters, a hospitality box at Fir Park was completely filled by the fantastic gifts donated and while it was almost impossible to calculate just how many toys were donated, organisers estimate the donations easily surpassed 500 toys.
The toys will now be delivered to North Lanarkshire Council and the Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Appeal’s, before being distributed to children in Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas.
MFC Podcast host Andy Ross said: “We’ve had an overwhelming response to our Christmas Toy Drive again this year. We hope in organising this event we have made a small contribution to making Christmas a happier time for children in the local area who may otherwise have woken up without a gift on Christmas morning.
“Thank you to everyone who came along and donated – your generosity has been incredible.”
Fans can still donate toys until Tuesday of next week at the MFC Community Trust offices, please contact 01698 239926 for further information.
